Getting to us

You’ll find us standing proudly on the corner of Dukes Lane, perfectly placed for exploring the Lanes or taking a break from the beach.

By train: We are a 10-minute walk from Brighton Railway Station. Just head down Queens Road toward the sea and take a left into the Lanes.

By bus: Most local buses stop at North Street or the Old Steine, both of which are a 3-minute stroll from our front door.

By car: If you’re driving in, The Lanes Car Park on Black Lion Street is roughly a 5-minute walk away.

Things to do in Brighton

Dukes Lane drops you right in the middle of Brighton’s best bits. You’re in the perfect place to weave between the narrow, brick-paved alleys of the North Laine and the salty air of the promenade, making us a handy spot to drop anchor and refuel.

The Lanes: Step out our front door and you’re immediately lost in a maze of independent jewellers, antique finds, and vintage threads.

Culture and royalty: If you’re feeling a bit fancy, the Royal Pavilion and its exotic domes are a 5-minute stroll away, right next to the Brighton Museum.

The Seafront: You can be standing on Brighton Palace Pier or skipping stones on the pebbles in under 10 minutes. It’s the perfect stretch to walk off a double tiffin feast.

Our Charity

We’re proud to support our local house charity, Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice

Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice provides care and support for children and young people with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions in Brighton & Hove, as well as across East Sussex, West Sussex, and Southeast Hampshire. From offering help in families’ own homes to activity days and short breaks at the hospice, the team provide specialist care while allowing kids to be kids and mums and dads to be just that, rather than carers. And when the time comes, they help families to say goodbye in whatever way feels right for them – providing end-of-life care at the hospice or in families’ own homes, and ongoing bereavement support.

The Mowgli Story

A tale of a different kind of Indian restaurant in Brighton

Since we landed in Brighton, we’ve been on a mission to show the coast what real Indian food is. In our family kitchens, food is all light, vibrant, and built for sharing with the people you love. We’ve brought those family recipes to the Lanes to bridge the gap between Indian traditions and the breezy city of Brighton.

The Mowgli Experience

What to expect

We’ve gone all out with the signature rope swings and vine-wrapped trees to create a relaxed, slightly playful vibe. It’s a come-as-you-are kind of place where you can lose track of time over a delicious Indian feast while the Brighton world wanders past outside.

FAQs

Our food

What food does Mowgli serve?

We serve the kind of food Indians eat at home and on their streets – dishes full of flavour, warmth and personality. Inspired by the city of Varanasi, our menu brings together vibrant street plates, tiffins filled with rich curries, and a balance of meat, vegetarian and vegan dishes. Every recipe is made in-house using fresh ingredients and real spices. Our small plates and tiffins are perfect for sharing and discovering new flavours with the people you love.

Does Mowgli have vegan or vegetarian options?

Yes, a large part of our menu is naturally vegan or vegetarian. Look for the leaf symbol on our menu to find the meat-free dishes, and refer to our allergen guide for a full breakdown of vegan and vegetarian options available here.

As well as the main menu, we also provide a vegan menu when requested.

Are there non-gluten options at Mowgli?

At Mowgli we have a non-Gluten menu to help our guests when navigating their dietary requirements. While dishes on this menu are made with ingredients that do not contain gluten, some suppliers have added “may contain” warnings due to possible cross-contamination during production. For this reason, we cannot guarantee our food is completely free from gluten, and we do not advise guests with severe allergies or coeliac disease to consume from this menu. Please speak to a manager in advance about any allergens or intolerances. Our allergen guide is also available here.

Can you cater for food allergies?

We try our best to cater for allergens where we can, however, every dish in Mowgli is freshly prepared in small kitchens that handle allergens and each dish contains spices that are ground externally. For this reason, we cannot guarantee the absence of any allergens in any of our dishes.
Customers with life-threatening allergies and intolerances must take this risk into consideration before choosing to dine with us. Our allergen guide is available here. Unfortunately, we cannot cater for allergens via delivery.

Do you offer kids’ meals?

We do. Our kids menu offers smaller portions of selected main dishes, and plenty to please young diners. We are a family brand born from home-style cooking, which is why it’s important to us that every guest has a wonderful authentic experience, no matter their age.

Can I see the menu online?

Of course. You can explore the full Mowgli menu, including vegan, vegetarian and gluten friendly dishes, on our website. We keep it updated so you always know what’s cooking before you visit. You can also access our allergen guide which has handy filters to help you navigate any specific requirements you may have, see it here.

Does Mowgli have a set menu?

We know our guests love to explore the different flavours and textures on our menu, so we’ve created a few sharing options to make that easy.
Our Sharer Menu is perfect for two or more people, packed with Mowgli favourites to enjoy together. For larger gatherings, our Feasting Menu is designed for tables of seven or more – it keeps the dishes flowing and helps us look after your whole party with the best possible service.
